Winter Car Accessories

It is hard enough living in snow country as it is.  Spend a few dollars to make life easier at its most difficult time.  Winter car accessories enhance safety, comfort, and performance in harsh winter conditions.

• Windshield Winter Wipers are made with rubber or silicone coating to remain pliable in freezing temperatures, sturdier frames to wipe snow buildup, and provide consistent contact to the windshield for better clearing.

  • ​PEAK Snow Beast are performance tested in sub-zero temperatures to remain flexible in cold weather and shield from snow and ice buildup.

  • Trico Chill feature a rugged, protective rubber boot that prevents snow and ice from clogging the wiper blade.

  • Wiper Covers. For those that insist on keeping their wipers away from their windshield which I do not agree.

  • Windshield Covers is another great way to prevent ice build up and fast snow removal from the windshield.

• Windshield Fluids treats the glass surface with a super-slick, non-stick invisible barrier that repels rain, sleet and snow.  

  • Rain-X De-Icer Washer Fluid has de-Ice additives and can only be purchased in Nevada.  These are better than the anti-freezing fluid as these help melt the ice.  

  • Prestone De-icer Spray is a concentrated high-performance ice-melting formula that instantly melts ice frost and helps reduce dangerous refreeze.  

  • Rain-X Treatment treats the glass surface with a super-slick, non-stick invisible barrier that repels rain, sleet and snow.  Also coat your rear window, headlight lenses and side mirrors.

• Snow Brushes and Ice Scrapers.  I chose these based on durability and minimum space requirements in the car.

  • Gloved Ice Scrapers are key to avoiding frozen hands.​

  • AstroAI 47.2" 3 in 1 extendable Ice Scrapper. Scraper, squeegee, and brush that folds compactly with a bag.

• Emergency Kit.  We all know we need one, but how many actually have one.  Literally can be a life saver!

  • Pre-packaged Kit.  I like this because it includes a shovel and tow strap.​

  • Tire Tracks are great because at one time or another, you are going to get stuck in the snow.  These fold taking up less room.

  • NOCO GB40 battery jumper. Small size with the minimum for most cars.

  • Folding Shovel. 

  • Kinetic Snatch Strap. Unlike a static tow rope, the snatch strap is made from elastic materials, allowing it to stretch and store kinetic energy.  They allow the towing vehicle to get a running start of to gain momentum.  These suggestions are based more on price than durability.
    A static tow strap is a less expensive choice.
    Be sure to attach to a solid part of the car and not a front end steering component.  Here is a good article on recovery.​
